An as-run log is not proof the spot aired

Traffic logs and affidavits describe what the station says it ran. Sold and detected can diverge. An independent record on your own air is still not a make-good.

The log is the station’s account

An as-run log is the traffic system’s story of the break. An affidavit is a signed version of that story. Neither is an independent observation of the feed.

Spots get pulled, regional cuts replace the national, a make-good slips a day. The log can still look complete. The buyer is looking at a document, not the air.

Why sold is not the same as detected

  • Traffic describes what was scheduled or marked as run. Delivery is an event on the channel at a time.
  • Affidavits summarise the station’s account. They are not a clip from the moment the break occupied the feed.
  • A buyer who only keeps the log reconstructs disputes from email and a file someone saved.
  • A make-good is still a contractual question. A record does not issue the credit.

Stations and buyers who only exchange logs meet the same gap: one insertion, one clock, no shared evidence that opens.

What an independent record looks like

Channel, clock, duration and a piece of evidence from the feed you monitor — including your own air, if that is in scope.

The record does not rewrite the affidavit. It lets traffic, sales and the buyer look at the same timestamp.

How to use it

Compare sold or logged insertions with what was detected on the channels you monitor. Classify matched, missing and unexplained. Attach evidence to the rows that matter.

What you have is a list of questions with proof. Whether a gap becomes a make-good is still decided in the contract, not in the software.
